James ObitFuneral services for James Travis McKeever, age 82, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Union Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Boyt officiating. Military graveside honors by the Hopkins County Military Coalition will follow at Union Cemetery with Arvis Tanton, Dwayne Attaway, Tyrel McKeever, Warren Attaway, Donny Attaway, Gary Attaway, Jacob McKeever and John Campbell serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Lane Caffman. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, July 12, 2014 at West Oaks Funeral Home.

Mr. McKeever passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at Trinity Mother Frances in Winnsboro. Mr. McKeever was born on November 21, 1931 in Hopkins County the son of E. R. and Cornelia (Horton) McKeever. He married Ida Janette Attaway on March 28, 1953 in Yantis, TX. She survives. Mr. McKeever was a civil servant for the postal service for over 30 years and retired as the Postmaster in Yantis in April 1991. He served in the United States Air force as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean conflict and a member of the VFW. He was a member and a Deacon at Union Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife he is survived by sons, James Robert McKeever and wife Deborah of Cleburne, TX, David Charles McKeever of Sulphur Springs, sister, Marjorie Lee Ward and husband Kenneth of Sulphur Springs, grandchildren, Tyrell McKeever, Amber Henegar, Audra Clark, Jacob McKeever, Joshua Coffman and Amanda Trammell, 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Dalton Leigh McKeever. Memorials may be made to the Union Cemetery, 200 Lou Street, Sulphur Springs, TX 75482.
