The Sulphur Springs City Council on first reading approved an Enterprise Zone for Saputo Dairy Foods Tuesday night. The designation will allow Saputo to save $700,000 in state sales tax as they do $10-million in improvements over five years. The improvements involve equipment upgrades according to Plant Manager Joe Wallace. The city will be asked for a 1-year tax abatement and a $500 savings in sales tax but they will be fully reimbursed by the state.
