Sulphur Springs Police Department Personnel Changes
The Sulphur Springs Police Department has made the last personnel move necessary due to the departure of Chief Jim Bayuk who began as a Sulphur Springs ISD Police Officer Friday. The Police Department has hired Zach Brown, a Sulphur Springs native, as a Patrol Officer. Brown currently works for the Mt. Pleasant Police Department. He’ll start in Sulphur Springs September 1. He’ll fill the position of Officer Brian Shurtleff, who is now the department’s new I-30 Interdiction Officer. Shurtleff passed the required certification needed for that job recently on his first attempt. Shurtleff replaces Jason Ricketson who is now Patrol Captain. He replaces Jay Sanders who was appointed Police Chief by the City Council to replace Jim Bayuk. Chief Sanders officially began as chief Friday.
