Funeral services for Mary Connally Hood, age 89, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at the Myra Wilson Chapel at City Cemetery with Rev. Charles Moore officiating. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, November 3, 2014 at West Oaks Funeral Home. Interment will be at City Cemetery. Mrs. Hood passed away Friday, October 31, 2014 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Hood was born on February 14, 1925 in Wichita Falls, TX, the daughter of Earl and Rose (Minter) Wood. She married her first husband, George Perry Connally, Sr., in 1948 and he preceded her in death in 1986. She married Jackson Sloan Hood in 1994 and he survives. Mrs. Hood was a wife and mother and a member of Gafford Chapel Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband she is survived by one son, George Connally, Jr. and wife Pat of Sulphur Springs, one daughter, Susie Connally Barker and husband Mickey of Sulphur Springs, step-daughter, Nonnie Jones and husband Bill of Sulphur Springs, grandchildren, Anjeanee Hornberger, Chris Connally, Drue Connally, John Emigh, Michael (Church) Emigh and Brad Barker. She was preceded in death by her parents, three daughters, Carolyn Walls, Rose Ann Connally and Sally Connally Emigh and one grandson, Daniel Dewitt.
