Review of Don Lalo’s, 912 Gilmer St, Sulphur Springs, TX

Dinner
I’m a huge fan of Tex-Mex. This was my first visit to DL’s, and I was not let down. Being our First Visit, We went with traditional fare, cheese/steak.chicken enchiladas, beans, rice.
Firstly, I think the salsa and chips set the stage for the entire meal. Lets face it, the chips and salsa is an expected part of the Tex-Mex experience. I loved the salsa. Cilantro was in full effect, bright tomato taste, some spicy heat. I would not have been shocked to find tomato plants growing somewhere close. The chips thin, crispy, and well seasoned.
Atmosphere: I like the setting. Walking up to the building you can see people inside clearly enjoying themselves. I also like the subdued lighting, dare I say coziness of the interior. We could hold a conversation with each other, a feature not available at other Tex-Mex joints in town.
Sweet Tea Review: Just OK. Missing the true tea flavor. Sweetness allowed to overpower somewhat.
Plate Temperature Review: Hot!
I will be back, and I am anxious to try some of the less ‘traditional’ offerings.
