Funeral Services for Alene Bennett, age 86 of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Jerry Savage officiating. Interment will follow at Stouts Creek with Jim Thompson, Brandon Brewer, Spencer Brewer, Tony Smith and Marvin Hart serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Ms. Bennett passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at her residence. She was a retired home healthcare provider. She was a member of the League Street Church of Christ and also A.L.A.N.O.N.
She was born on April 10, 1928, the daughter of Otis Nelson and Bessie Lee Owens in Leonard, TX. She married A.J. Bennett in Dallas. He preceded her in death in 1985.
Other survivors include: daughters, Brenda Rains of Sulphur Springs and Ann Svoboda of Point; sons, Cecil Hawkins and wife, Janet of Springtown and Jerry Hawkins, Sr. and wife, Lorene of Irving; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; nineteen great-great-grandchildren and sister, Rocie Lewis of Rockwall.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, William Hawkins, Jr. and brothers, Billy Gene Owens and James Nelson Owens.
