Funeral services for Don Sides, age 67 of Carthage will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 5, 2015 at League Street Church of Christ with Buster Sides and Butch Nichols officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with military honors. Pete Commiato, Bo Hill, Les Jones, Chuck Lawrence, Gary McGuire and Calvin Turner serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Anderson, Ralph Bryant, Allen Commiato, Ron Simkins and Tyson Turner.
Don passed from this life on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview. He was born in Gorman, TX on September 18, 1947, the son of Paul W. and Wanda J. Sides. He married Kathy Clark on March 21, 1968 in Sulphur Springs. She survives.
Don served in the U.S. Navy and retired from Amoco Production Company after twenty-seven years. After retirement he ministered in several capacities. Most recently he preached at the Church of Christ in Wildwood (Carthage, TX).
Survivors include: daughter, Kristi Wondra and husband, Brian of Allen; son, Buster Sides and wife, Angie of Blanchard, OK; grandchildren, Austin Wondra, Aaron Wondra, Kylie Sides and Nick Sides; sister, Karen Hettich of Winnsboro and brother, J. Paul Sides of Greenville.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
