Game Day 02/15/15

After Longview defeated the Wildcats’ basketball team 68-52 Friday night, the Lobo’s coach paid the Wildcats a compliment. He said the Wildcats were one of the hardest teams his team had to face because the Wildcats play so hard. He added they couldn’t guard Cain Cody. The Wildcats end the season Tuesday at home against Marshall on Senior Night.

Here are Lady Cats Basketball Coach Jeff Chapman’s keys to defeating John Tyler in a bi-district game at Lindale Monday at 7 p.m. The Lady Cats must not turn the ball over and they have to handle the press. They must play good half court defense. They must score points on offense. Coach Chapman wants his team to continue to play with confidence.

The Wildcats’ baseball team will have their final two scrimmages to prepare for the season this week weather permitting. Plans have the Wildcats scrimmaging at Wylie East Tuesday at 7 p.m. and then at North Lamar Friday at 6 p.m. The Wildcats open the regular season on February 26 at a three-day Tyler Lee tournament. With scrimmages behind them, the Lady Cats’ softball team will open the regular season at home in their own tournament Thursday through Saturday. The Lady Cats play Royse City and Wills Point Thursday, Athens Friday and Princeton and Mineola Saturday.

Wildcats Soccer Coach Andy Holt says his team needs to start winning district games now if they want to make the playoffs this year. Coach Holt commented after his team’s 2-1 overtime home loss to Texas High Friday night. The Wildcats slip to 2-4 in district play. They have road games this week at Hallsville Tuesday and at Marshall Friday.

The Lady Cats’ soccer team lost to Texas High on the road Friday night, 4-1. The Lady Cats are now 3-3 in district play. The Lady Cats hope to take advantage of two games at Prim Stadium this week. The Lady Cats host Hallsville Tuesday night and Marshall Friday night. The Lady Cats defeated Marshall on the road back on January 27.
