Funeral service for Sanford Lee Hill, age 70, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2015 at West oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Harold Wright and Bro. D.K. Young officiating. Interment will follow at Mel Haven Cemetery with Wendell Johnson, Jr., Brandon Harrison, Jimmie Lynn Harrison, Marcus Hill, Jeremy Hill, and Edward J. Hill serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Douglas High School classmates of 1963. There will be no formal visitation.
Mr. Hill passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Baylor Heart Hospital of Plano. He was born December 19, 1944 in Hopkins County, the son of Johnny Hill and Flora Pearson Hill. Mr. Hill served in the United States Air Force and the Army National Guard Reserve and he was employed with Sulphur Springs Floors.
He married Roberta Harrison and she survives. In addition to his wife he is survived by sons, Marcus Hill and wife Jennifer of Oakwood, TX, and Kelvin Hill of Irving, TX, daughters, Michelle Ivery and Lana Thomas, of Sulphur Springs, brothers, Danny Thompson of CA, R.L. Thompson of CA, Larry Hill of San Antonio, TX, and Ed Hill of Sulphur Springs, grandchildren, Mercades Brown, Joshua Bullock, Jarrod Bullock, Jocelyn Williams, Sabre Hill, Jarod Hill, Ashton Hill, Paul Yzaguirre, Justin Yzaguirre, Brianna Ivery, Troy Ivery, Jr., Christopher Goodson, Caso Goodson, and Caden Davis, 9 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Wilbert Thompson, Joe Hill, and a sister Celestine Johnson. Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home. www.westoaksfuneralhome.com
