Alliance Bank in Sulphur Springs

Chamber Connection March 5, 2015 by Meredith Caddell

Attention all Bicyclists…Spring Fever Bike Rally will take place in SS, March 14th!
Mark your calendars NOW for the Spring Fever Bike Rally sponsored by the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce. Bikers will have the opportunity to ride in one of 4 rides…10 miles, 27 miles, 37 miles or 60 miles. The ride will be through some of our beautiful East Texas communities on Saturday, March 14th! Registration forms are available NOW. The ride is only $30 if you register before March 7th and $35 after that. For more information, please call the Chamber at 903-885-6515 or you may register online at www.sulphursprings-tx.com/events.
Not a cyclist??? Neither am I…but you can still Participate!!!
In order to put on such a big event in this community, it takes a TON of volunteers! If you are interested in helping out…there are many things to choose from:
1) Drive a SAG Wagon! What is a SAG Wagon? It is a vehicle that drives one of the routes during the duration of the ride. This vehicle will be designated SAG Wagon with magnetic signs and flags (that we provide). The SAG Wagon is on the route for the riders. It will carry water, tire pumps, first aid kits, etc.. It is a fun way to participate in the event because you can roll down your window and encourage the riders as they trek up & down the hills, while you are in the comfort of your own car
2) Host or help with a Rest Stop. We will have rest stops every 10 miles along the rides. These stops are great for youth groups or other organizations/businesses! The more people you have at the rest stop, the better! The riders are always so thankful to see a rest stop, get a bite to eat, visit with wonderful East Texas folks, then get back on the road. The stops are encouraged to have music, food, drinks and tons of fun! The riders actually vote on their favorite rest stop of the ride and the winner will get a plaque and their picture in the paper!
3) Be a Cheerleader!!! The more people we have on the square to cheer the riders on, the better! They LOVE to hear people cheering for them. If we could line Church Street and Houston Street and cheer them on…that would be great! Then, as they finish their ride…the more people on the square that we can have, the better! Imagine…if you have just ridden 60 miles on a bike…wouldn’t you want people cheering you on to finish?
4) Bake Homemade Goodies! After the ride, cyclists will be treated to a Hamburger Lunch from Alliance Bank. Believe it or not, after the ride, they LOVE homemade treats…cakes, cookies, pies, etc. They also LOVE Chocolate Milk, which the Southwest Dairy Museum is providing!
If you would like to help with any of the above opportunities, please call the Chamber ASAP! If we hear from you by Friday, March 6th, your group or business will be included in the Thank you part of the dry fit t-shirt that all riders receive when they register! If you can’t commit by Friday…it’s okay…we still need your help! Please call the Chamber at 903-885-6515!
