Funeral services for Norman “Shorty” Ferrell, age 66 of Sulphur Springs will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Stinson officiating. Graveside service will follow at Emblem Cemetery with Jerry Pat Horton, Sigmund Wright, Brenan Rhodes, Wes Jordan, Rusty Schulz and Winston Grayson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Carl Jones, Chuck Askins, David Lowry, Larry Jordan and Toby Price. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 9, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Mr. Ferrell passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Sulphur Springs on May 13, 1948, the son of Smith and Iva (Baucom) Ferrell. He is survived by Valeria Sue (Edwards) Ferrell, whom he married on August 15, 1967 in Hopkins County. He was a machinist at Flowserve and of the Baptist faith.
Other survivors include: daughter, Konya Ferrell of Colorado; son, Allen Ferrell and wife, Lois of The Colony; brothers, J.G. Ferrell of Lewisville and Red Ferrell of Honey Grove; sister, Sue Daniels of Yantis and grandchildren, Anne Ferrell and Leslie Ferrell.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
