Funeral services for Oleta Bearden, age 91 of the Tira Community will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Tira First United Methodist Church with Rev. LeRoy Reeves, Rev. David Larkin and Rev. Ed Dodd officiating. Interment will follow at Tira Cemetery with David James, Brian Lewis, Jim Garner, Floyd Lawson, Floyd Peyton, Jim Gregg, Wade Bartley and Danny Evans serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Evan Lewis, Eastan Lewis, Eden Lewis, David James and Danny James. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Oleta passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 in Sulphur Springs. She was born in Tira on December 31, 1923, to G.H. and Mary Ruth (Chapman) Weir. She married Ervin Richard Bearden on October 9, 1948 in Tyler. He preceded her in death. She was a retired IRS Clerk, graduate of East Texas State University and was a member of the Tira First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include: nephew, Danny Evans and wife, Debra of Sulphur Springs; great-nieces, Danna Lewis and husband, Brian, Dee Ann Evans and Dusti James and husband, David; great-great-niece, Eden Lewis and great-great-nephews, Eastan Lewis, Evan Lewis, David James and Danny James.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Dorothy Gene Evans.
Memorials can be made to the Tira Cemetery Association or the Tira First United Methodist Church.
