Funeral Service for Janie Louise Crump, 68, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 10, 2015 at First Baptist Church with Bro. Mark Bryant, Bro. Fred Lewis and Bro. Bruce Stinson officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with Jerry Chapman, Curtis Chambers, Rod Young, Tommy Evans, David Brewer, and Bob Julian. Honorary pallbearers will be Gordon L. Ford and the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Department. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 9, 2015 at West Oaks Funeral Home.
Mrs. Crump passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at her residence. She was born on October 28, 1946 on Jackson, MS, the daughter of Milam Clinton and Ida Othel Cordell Washington. She married Dan Crump in 1977 in Sulphur Springs, TX. He preceded her in death. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She received her Bachelors of Science in Home Economics from Texas Tech in 1968. She later received her Master’s in Home Economics from East Texas College of Commerce in 1980. She was a member of the Pilot Club, 4 H, Jr. Waverly, Rotary, and the Chamber of Commerce where she received the Woman of the Year Award. She worked as an agent in Home Economics for Hopkins County and retired in 2001.
She is survived by her son, Tanner Crump and wife Ashley of Sulphur Springs, grandchildren, Alli and Dani-Kate Crump, step-daughters, Missy and Dee Dee Crump, sisters, Lynda Pressley, Carrie Chambers, Donna Matthews, Lisa Bishop, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Russell Braswell. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Ty Funderburk’s Leukemia Domination at https://www.giveforward.com/fundraiser/2q36. Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home.
