Funeral services for Margaret Ruth Carpenter, age 91, of Madisonville, KY, formerly of Como, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 19, 2015 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Henry officiating. Interment will follow at Como Cemetery with James Kemble, Charlie Harris and Roy Darby serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m., prior to service time.
Mrs. Carpenter passed away at her residence on Wednesday, April, 15, 2015. Mrs. Carpenter was born on April 6, 1924 in the Flora Community the daughter of Fred Louis and Opal Grace (Johnson) O’Shields. She married Billy Joe Carpenter and he preceded her in death on January 6, 2005.
Mrs. Carpenter retired from Custom Shutters. She served on the Como City Counsel for 4 years and was a member of Elm Ridge Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Delilah Kemble and husband James of Madisonville, KY, brothers, Jerry Don O’Shields, Glynn O’Shields and Bobby Louis O’Shields, sisters, Brenda Smitty and Mary LaJuan Stewart, grandchildren, Sonya Graham, Melissa Graham Ashby, Stacy Graham, Chad Graham, Jacie Rogers, Jaden Rogers, Jasmine Cowan, 5 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by 4 sisters.
Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home.
