Funeral services for Roy Sims, age 88 of Sulphur Springs will be held on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Phil Gold and Dan Hubbell officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Peerless Cemetery.
Roy passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab. He was born on May 26, 1927, in Peerless the son of George and Irene (Watkins) Sims. He married Emma Modene Burks on October 21, 1944 at Peerless Assembly of God. They were married for 71 years. Roy was an auto mechanic and owned his own auto shop. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
He is survived by his wife; son, Johnny Roy Sims and wife, Nancy of Sulphur Springs; daughter, Nelda Sue Cobb of Tampa FL; six grandchildren, Cindy Cobb McAdoo, Kristi Cobb Hubbell, Jason Cobb, Holli Cobb, Jeremy Sims, Jamie Sims Gold and twelve great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by parents; brothers, Oscar, Marvin, Raymond, Gene and Doyle; sisters, Melba Townsend and Nell Petrea and son-in-law, Tommy Cobb.
