Decmebr 26, 2015 – A 34-year old Brownsville man was arrested in the early morning hours of Christmas Day for allegedly assaulting his disabled mother. Police were called to a residence in the 300 block of Woodcrest Drive at 2:45 a.m. Friday. Both the victim and her mother told police that they feared the threat of future violent from the man. Joshua Scott Morris was charged with assaulting a disabled person, according to reports. JP Brad Cummings set bond for Morris at $30,000 and required an ankle monitor should he be released.
Morris spent Dec. 25-27, 2015 in jail, then was released on bond. He appeared in court with his attorney on May 26, 2016. He plead guilty to a Class A misdemeanor charge of assault causing bodily injury/family violence and was sentenced to 2 days confinement in the county jail. He was credited with time served in 2015 on the charge and assessed court costs.
