On Thursday morning, June 30th, the local animal shelter volunteers held an adoption event for several of their foster animals on the square. At the adoption events four to five of the foster dogs are available for adoption. The animal shelter has teamed up with three local veterinary clinics, Bright Star Vet Clinic, Hopkins County Vet Clinic, and Sulphur Springs Vet Clinic. Once the animal is bought they must be spayed or neutered if they aren’t already. The adoption fee covers that cost. Saturday, July 2nd, another adoption event will be held at Tractor Supply Co. Next Saturday, July 9th, two adoption events will be going on. The first will be at Atwoods from 11 am-4 pm. The second will be held at Trans Texas Theatres from 12 pm-5 pm. The event at Trans Texas is to kick-off the premiere of children’s movie Pets.
The Sulphur Springs Animal Shelter is open from 7 am to 5 pm Monday-Friday. They are located at 1313 Hillcrest Dr. and encourage people to stop by! The shelter can be contacted at 903-438-9369, for emergencies call 903-885-7602. If you don’t have time to drop by, look at their Facebook page at www.facebook/sulphurspringsanimalshelter for animals ready to be adopted. $100 usually covers the adoption, and if they’re spayed or neutered the adoption fee is $50.
