Lady Cats Softball Coach David Carrillo says this year’s preseason scrimmages have been the hardest he has had. They started with Forney, then scrimmaged Rockwall, The Colony and North Forney Saturday and Lindale Monday night at Lady Cat Park. Coach Carrillo says his team’s hitting had been sporadic so far but he adds the Lady Cats have faced one quality pitcher after another so far in scrimmage season. Coach Carrillo says he’s not hitting the panic button. He says sometimes hitting is slow to develop and he says he knows the potential is there. Coach Carrillo says pitchers Allie Fite, Bailey Haggerty and Landri Bell have pitched pretty well for the most part. He says on defense the Lady Cats have some little things to work on. Coach Carrillo says the Lady Cats playing tough teams will help them get better. The Lady Cats have one final scrimmage Friday evening at home against North Lamar. Coach Carrillo says he is ready for the regular season to begin with games that count. He believes his team is ready also. The regular season begins February 16 on the first day of the three-day Sulphur Springs Varsity Softball Tournament. The Lady Cats will play Gilmer, Royse City, Mesquite Poteet, Fort Worth Christian and McKinney.
