Median Curb and Island Construction Slated for Highway 19 and I-30

Texas Department of Transportation officials today announced that median curb and island construction is slated to begin May 9 in Sulphur Springs at the intersection of I-30 and State Highway 19.

Contractor O. Trevino Construction LLC will construct median curbs and islands on the north and south side of this intersection to help guide drivers as they travel through this highway interchange.

TxDOT officials anticipate a two-week construction window for this project, weather permitting. This construction will sometimes require temporary lane closures. Flaggers will be on site to alert drivers to changing road conditions and to guide motorists through the area safely.

Motorists are urged to use alternate travel routes whenever possible while this construction is underway. They should also be prepared to watch for and obey all signs, barricades and traffic controls, and reduce their speed as they approach and travel through work zones. They should also plan for lane closures, and avoid distractions such as cell phones, eating, drinking, or car audio or navigation systems.
