There’s Still Time to Compete for the State Ice Cream Title!

The Queen of Ice cream, Lezley Brown who is President and CEO of the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce invited Ice Cream Committee member Garret Glass to share the Morning Show discussion about the “new” tradition of the Ice Cream Contest. It’s 2017 location will be the front lawn of Shannon Oaks Church and it’s  new time will be 5:30 pm on Saturday June 10, 2017. The only thing needed now are ice cream entries and people to consume the tasty treat. There is no entry fee, all ages can enter their freezer of homemade ice cream, and all flavors and recipes of homemade ice cream are welcome. Also, you may earn a State title! Right after all the entries have arrived and while the judging is going on, everyone can get out on the grounds and enjoy as much ice cream as they want at $3 per person. So get creative and test your best recipes, and contact Lezley at the Chamber office at 300 Connally Street or phone 903-885-6515, or go online to hopkinscountychamber.org to enter. The long-standing Sulphur Springs tradition, the Texas State Championship Homemade Ice Cream Freeze-off, was formerly held on the Civic Center grounds right after the milking contest concluded. Coincidentally, it’s move to the new location rings true to this year’s exciting Dairy Festival theme, “It’s Your Moo-ve”. As in years past, there are age categories from children to adult, several flavor divisions, and “First-Timers” and “Super Scoop” previous winner categories. There will be trophies, medals and cash prizes.
