One of the event co-coordinators for the first-ever “Main Street Uncorked” benefit tasting event is Jeanna Smith Penny. Along with Phil and Vanessa Williams, owners of Phinesse Farms Winery in downtown Sulphur Springs, Jeanna invited numerous wineries from across the NE Texas region and 14 accepted their invitation to the give-back event.That means for your $20 ticket, you may sample ten different Texas wines from the wineries of your choice as you stroll the 200 block of Main Street on Saturday afternoon. All types of Texas wines will be available from vintners located in Pittsburg, Yantis, Winnsboro, Greenville, McKinney and beyond. Once you discover your favorites, you can purchase wine by the glass or by the bottle to enjoy at a table or to take home. A “People’s Choice” award will be given based on voting by tasters. Live music will be provided by The Jonathans, the Birthright Blues Project and the Jason Walden Band. Attendees are encouraged to enjoy a snack or dinner at the numerous downtown eateries.
Main Street Uncorked will be held on Saturday October 21, 2017 from 2pm until 7pm in the vehicle-restricted 200 block of Main Street. A portion of your $20 admission will be donated to the Hopkins County Veterans Memorial to be used for expenses such as the addition of Veterans names and year-round maintenance and upkeep of the Memorial.
