Funeral services for Alan L. Sutton, age 80, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 4, 2018 at Spence Chapel at First Baptist Church with Dr. Roy Edgemon, Dr. Grady Sutton and Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Church. Interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas with Greyson Gee, David Baucom, Joe Kennedy, Dick Pogue, Jerry Jennings, Ted Ferguson, Tommy Evans, Thomas Kight, Gene Bratcher, Butch Huddleston, Frank Keck, and John Orr serving as pallbearers. Mr. Sutton passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital in Sulphur Springs.
Mr. Sutton was born on October 23, 1937 in Gadsden, AL, the son of Grady Franklin Sutton and Alma Lurlene Wellborn Sutton. He married Jane Cosby on December 23, 1963 in Pope, MS. She survives. Mr. Sutton served in United States Navy for 22 ½ years. He taught ROTC at Wilmer Hutchins High School for 2 years and worked for the City of Irving as Park Policeman for 2 years and Chief of Security for the Irving Arts Center for 18 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife Jane, he is survived by 2 daughters, Michelle May and husband Robert of Haslet, TX, and Denise Gee and husband Kevin of Lufkin, TX, brother, Grady Loyd Sutton and wife Jackie of Callahan, FL, grandchildren, Hope May, Greyson Gee and Lauren Gee, nephews, Dr. Grady Sutton and wife Jennifer of Braselton, GA, and Grant Sutton and wife Melissa of Callahan, FL, 5 great nieces and 1 great nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
