1100 Runners Participate at Miller Grove Invitational Cross Country Meet
The Miller Grove Invitational Cross Country Meet took place Thursday (September 13) with over 1100 runners participating. The Miller Grove Hornets took first place. The Miller Grove Lady Hornets placed second, just 3 points behind the top team from Pittsburg. For the Hornets, freshman Isaiah Billingsley won the race with a time of 15:55. Teammate Grant Earp was second, Lance Davis was fifth, Tanner Hensley was eleventh, Matt Brignon was sixteenth and Lexton Sly was twenty-eighth. For the Lady Hornets, Jolee Fox was third with a time of 12:22. Cassidy Seaney was sixth, Lauren Bullard was eleventh, Alexa Pelerose was thirty-seventh, Lainy Burnett was thirty-eighth and Harli Watson was one hundred-second.
Miller Grove Coach Gary Billinsgley said the invitational showcased some of best runners in northeast Texas. He said the varsity girls race featured Sienna Collins of Saltillo, who he said will go down as the most accomplished 1A runner in history. Collins took first in the varsity girls race winning with a time of 11:54. Collins also bested an Edgewood runner who had topped her in a recent North Hopkins race.
The Saltillo Lady Lions finished eleventh as a team in Miller Grove. Other Lady Lions and their finishes were Raegan Speir in twenty-fifth, Kristina Wade in eighty-sixth, Brianna Tawil in one hundred thirty-sixth and Chandler Bain in one hundred forty-fifth.
