Lezley Brown and Bradley Edge appeared on the KSST Good Morning Show to invite everyone to the World Champion Hopkins County Stew Cook-off set for Saturday October 27, 2018 in Buford Park. There are actually 172 different stew sites in the park. Of these, 167 Stew cooking teams will have the cooking fires going by daylight, and soon afterwards the park will be filled with amazing aromas coming from the various areas of the grounds. Stew must be ready before mid-morning, as judging takes place at about 10:30am and Stew will be served to the public at 10:45am. Cost to enter and eat is $6 person this year.
According to Lezley, you will find a ticket/service tent at each of the four entrances to the Stew grounds. At Stew serving time, lines may form, but go ahead and get in line, as they will move quickly. This year, the cost for Stew had a slight increase. It is now $6 per person, so feel free to bring correct change to speed things up. There will also be one tent location with credit card accessibility, and that same tent will have Stew T-shirts for sale as well. To save time on Stew day, you can purchase your tickets at the Chamber office or at any of the local banks through Friday.
Bradley, a long-time Chamber Ambassador is serving again as Chairman of the Stew Committee, which he describes as “an army”. Lezley, CEO of the Chamber, is designated “Leader of the Stew Troopers” with a nod to the Star Wars theme, “May the Stew Be With You”. Local artist Jessica Akers won the design contest this summer with her theme concept. The singing duo “Brown and Gray” will entertain with an acoustic set starting at noon on the main sound stage at the center of the grounds.
