Cecelia Margaret Belter, 89 of Lewiston, Minnesota and Sulphur Springs, Texas died at her home in Sulphur Springs, Texas on Saturday,November 24. She was born October 15,1929 in New Market, Minnesota to Rose and Joseph DeGross.
Cecelia graduated from Farmington High School in Farmington,MN. She briefly attended Winona State University before meeting the love of herlife, Edwin Belter. They were married on December 9, 1950 in Winona. They farmed together and later purchased and ran the Wyattville Store, Ballroom & Tavern and Belter Trucking & Livestock. They had three children, eight grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Cecelia was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
In retirement, she relished the role of traveling grandmother spending many weeks of the year living with and helping her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to travel and often vacationed with her children and grandchildren traveling to most of the states in the United States and several countries. She also loved supporting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their activities- attending thousands of sporting events, performances and 4-H activities.
She is survived by her three children Susan (Bernard)Thesing, Sulphur Springs, Texas; James Belter, Winona; Bruce (Reyne) Belter,Lewiston; Grandchildren Jodi (Scott) Thesing-Ritter, Eau Claire, WI, PennyThesing, Arlington, TX, Ben (Allison Libby) Thesing, Sulphur Springs, TX,Charity (Joshua) SeGraves, Alexandria, VA, Jeremy (Melissa) Belter, New Berlin,WI, Jenny (Mark) Hobson, Verona, WI, Eric Belter, Winona, and Lauren Belter,Rochester; seventeen beloved great-grandchildren and sisters Leola Frame, Cannon Falls, Josephine Lind, Cannon Falls, Mary (Charles) Schafer, Hampton, Rosemary Orndorf, Burnsville, Delores (Clyde) Millerbernd, Vining, Marlene (Jerry)Millerbernd, Lakeville, Elaine Rossow, Cottage Grove. She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Rose DeGross, husband Edwin Belter, brothers Nicholas DeGross and Peter DeGross, and great-granddaughter Makena Thesing-Ritter.
Family and friends are invited to join in a celebration of life on Monday, December 31 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation to begin at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 28482 County Road 12, Winona, Minnesota and at her butterfly garden on Saturday, April 20 at 11:00 a.m. in Sulphur Springs, Texas.
