Hopkins County Law Enforcement and Emergency Responder Appreciation Dinner is Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 5 p.m. at the Hopkins County Civic Center. The traditional steak cookout recognizes those in law enforcement and emergency response who serve Hopkins County professionally, courteously, and selflessly.
City Attorney Jim McLeroy organized and sponsored the event 30 years ago and continued the task annually to the present. This year marks a changing of leadership as local attorney Heath Hyde assumes the duty of organizing the event. Last year 49 sponsors including individuals, financial institutions, professionals, businesses, and industries contributed to make the event possible.
McLeroy stated, “It has been a pleasure and privilege for me to participate in this event for so many years and I hope that we can count on the support and attendance of many in this my final year as the principal organizer. ”
The 2019 event will feature the traditional rib eye steak or chicken breast with all the trimmings served at 5:30 p.m. and outstanding members of law enforcement and emergency responders will be named.
McLeroy invites individuals, professionals, business and industry to sponsor the event this year. A $200 donation may be made to the event at the Chamber of Commerce office, 300 Connally Street.
