Wildcats Basketball Opens District Play at Home Versus Greenville in Girls-Boys Doubleheader
The #6 ranked Wildcats’ basketball team opens district play at home against Greenville Friday night (January 11). In the Sulphur Springs Main Gym, the Lady Cats JV will play first at 5 p.m. followed by the Lady Cats Varsity at 6:15 p.m. and then the Wildcats varsity at 7:30 p.m. The Wildcats JV and freshman team will be playing in the high school Auxiliary Gym beginning at 5 p.m.
KSST Radio will bring you the Lady Cats and Wildcats’ district games back to back. The games will also feature live video streaming with a link available at ksstradio.com and the KSST Radio YouTube Channel. The games will also be videotaped for replay later on Channel 18 on Suddenlink Cable.
Wildcats Open District Play
The Wildcats are 14-8 overall and Greenville is 10-13 according to Max Preps. Wildcats Coach Clark Cipoletta said the Lions are very athletic and added they play hard for their coach, Dexter Patrick. Patrick is in his second season as the Lions’ head coach. Coach Cipoletta said Patrick is trying to change the basketball culture and to get players’ buy in at Greenville similar to what went on at Sulphur Springs eight years or so ago. Coach Cipoletta said Coach Patrick is doing a good job of that and he said Greenville seems to be getting better every week. Coach Cipoletta said the Lions also have one of the best offensive players in the district who has been on the Greenville varsity since he was a freshman.
Lady Cats Basketball Hosts Greenville Lady Lions at Home in District Game Friday
The Lady Cats’ basketball team continues district play as they play host to the Greenville Lady Lions in the Sulphur Springs Main Gym Friday evening (January 11). This game will mark the first of eight where the Lady Cats will play followed by the Wildcats’ varsity game. Lady Cats Coach Brittney Tisdell likes the back to back games. She says it is good for the Lady Cats because their will be more people in the stands for the Lady Cats’ game. Coach Tisdell says the bigger crowd will get the Lady Cats excited. She says if her players are excited, then she is excited too. Coach Tisdell says she expects Greenville to be aggressive when playing the Lady Cats. She expects the Lady Cats to match up well against the Lady Lions because she says the Lady Cats are also very aggressive, especially on defense. The Lady Cats come into the game with a district record of 1-1 and a season record of 19-4.
