Wet weather Wednesday (January 2) caused Lady Cats Soccer Coach Joel Bailey to move his morning practice indoors to the Multipurpose Building field. The Lady Cats dropped a pair of road scrimmages last Friday and Saturday. The score was 3-1 at Pleasant Grove Friday and 5-0 in Hallsville Saturday. Coach Bailey said Pleasant Grove is much improved. He said meanwhile the Lady Cats were removing cobwebs and having to deal with injuries to key players. Coach Bailey said Pleasant Grove jumped on the Lady Cats early. The Lady Cats got a second half goal. Bailey Arrington scored after a good assist from Ashley Noe. Coach Bailey said some of the Pleasant Grove goals came on rebounds after great keeper saves. He said Hallsville is solid again this year with good players returning. Coach Bailey said the Lady Cats were frustrated attempting to chip into the Lady Bobcats lead. Still he said the Lady Cats are working to get better. Coach Bailey said it’s not how you start a season but rather how you finish one. Later Coach Bailey said weather has already taken its toll on the Terrell tournament. All Thursday games have been canceled. Now the Lady Cats face Mesquite Poteet Friday at 3 p.m. and Red Oak at 7:30 p.m. The Lady Cats play the Highland Park JV Saturday at noon. Pool winners meet at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Wildcats Soccer Coach Alexi Upton said the threat of icy weather has also impacted the Princeton tournament. There will be no games on Thursday. Now the Wildcats face Celina Friday at 11:45 a.m. They face Princeton Saturday at 9:15 a.m. Additional games Saturday will be based on earlier results.
