An investigation into the possession and sale of cocaine conducted by Sulphur Springs Special Crimes Unit has led to the arrest of Monerius Montreal Barnes, 36, of Sulphur Springs. Four (4) separate buys of cocaine led to a narcotics search warrant at his residence on Beckham Street where Barnes had conducted his sales. The undercover buys resulted in approximately 5.5 grams of cocaine. A search warrant executed by SCU, Sulphur Springs and Hopkins County Investigators, and SSPD Patrol discovered approximately 6.4-grams of cocaine inside the residence at the time of the search.
Barnes has been charged with the on sight Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1, more than 4-grams but less than 200-grams in a Drug Free Zone and the warranted charges–two charges of Manufacture Deliver Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 more than 1-gram but less than 4-grams in a Drug Free Zone and two charges of Manufacture Deliver Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 less than 1-gram in a Drug Free Zone. Barnes is in Hopkins County Jail held on $150,000.
