The Lady Cats’ softball team wrapped up a highly successful appearance in the 20th Annual Allen Varsity Invitational Softball Tournament Saturday (February 23) with a solid 8-0 win over Frisco Independence. The Lady Cats won all four games they played in Allen. A scheduled game Friday with Wylie East was rained out.
Saturday freshman Addison Caddell had a fine game in the pitching circle allowing no runs and only three hits to get the win. Caddell threw 69 pitches and struck out 5 while walking 3. The Lady Cats continue to swing the bats well getting 8 hits. The Lady Cats scored a single run in the bottom of the second to go up, 1-0. They added 2 more runs in the bottom of the third and then scored 5 runs in the bottom of the fourth. In the 5 run fourth, Abbi Baier hit a home run. Landri Bell drove home a run with a double. Sadie Stroud and Sierra Smith both had RBI singles. Stroud scored 2 runs in the game and had 2 RBIs. Kelsey Wallace was 2 for 2 with 2 runs scored. Caddell had an RBI. Colbria Harrison hit a double and scored a run. Nylah Lindley was 1 for 1.
The Lady Cats improved to 10-0 for the season. They are scheduled to play in a three-day Wylie tournament starting Thursday.
