The Lady Cats’ softball team improved to 5-0 with their fifth win in the Sulphur Springs Varsity Softball Tournament defeating Duncanville, 11-4 at frigid Lady Cat Park Saturday (February 16). The temperature was 39-degrees as the game began.
Pitcher Bailey Haggerty won her third game of the season without a loss as she gave up only 1 earned run and 4 hits while striking out 5 and walking 1. The Lady Cats scored 3 first inning runs and 8 big second inning runs. The Lady Cats had 7 hits. Kelsey Wallace hit her third home run of the season, a three-run blast that cleared the high center field wall. Wallace was also 2 for 2 with a walk and scored 3 runs. Addison Caddell drove in 3 runs and was 2 for 2 with a run scored and a double. Alli Fite, Brinklee Driver and Sadie Stroud also had hits. Landri Bell had a bases loaded walk that forced in a run. The Lady Cats received 7 walks.
Next for the Lady Cats, due to expected bad weather on Tuesday, Lady Cats Coach David Carrillo said the Lady Cats game with Mineola originally scheduled for Tuesday evening has been moved to Monday at 4:30 p.m. at Lady Cat Park. It will be a varsity only game.
