The Wildcats’ baseball team closed out their play in this year’s Rose City Classic with one-run wins over Waxahachie, 4-3 and over Forney, 2-1 Saturday (February 23) at Mike Carter Field in Tyler. Wildcats Baseball Coach Jerrod Hammack said his team pitched well today.
Going into the tournament, Coach Hammack said he hoped to get in most of their scheduled games in the tournament. The Wildcats got two games in Thursday, had a rain out Friday against Amarillo and then played the two games Saturday. The Wildcats went 3-1 in the tournament defeating host Tyler Lee as well as Waxahachie and Forney. The Wildcats lone loss was to district rival Lindale Thursday, 3-1.
The Wildcats, 3-1 for the season, are scheduled to play North Lamar Monday at 7 p.m. at Wildcat Park.
