Brashear Man Jailed For Methamphetamine Possession

Cumby Police Officer Kenneth Jones arrested Cory Lane Belz, 34, of Brashear, TX for possession of 1 gram or more but less than 4 grams of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance.

Jones reported seeing a Chevrolet pickup change lanes without signaling along Interstate 30, so he began to pursue it. The car took the 110 exit and continued half a mile before stopping at a trailer rental business. Jones, in arrest reports, claimed he could see the driver reached his hand to the back of the seat as the car stopped.

The driver, identified in arrest reports as Belz, allegedly denied having insurance or a driver’s license. Two glass pipes and an alcohol bag containing a baggy of suspected methamphetamine were found behind the driver’s seat.

The driver was arrested for possession of the suspected controlled substance, while the passenger was released without charges, Jones noted in arrest reports.

Belz remained in the county jail Friday afternoon on the controlled substance charge. His bond was set at $10,000, according to jail reports.
