The Wildcats Football Team travels to Terrell to play the Tigers as district play begins Friday night, Sept. 13, in District 8-5A in Division II.
Both teams come in hungry for a win with 0-2 records. The Wildcats lost at home to Frisco Wakeland and on the road to Lovejoy. Terrell lost to Hallsville at home and to Paris on the road. The Wildcats won last year’s game at The Prim, 42-27. Going back to 1956, the Wildcats lead the series, 14-10.
Terrell is coached by Marvin Sedberry Jr. in his first year at Terrell and his 13th as a head coach. The Wildcats are coached by former Wildcat great Greg Owens in his 14th year with the Wildcats and 23rd year as a head coach.
Concerning district play, Coach Sedberry notes the district is a tough one. He said figuratively that there are no weeks off in the district as all eight of the district opponents present a challenge.
Coach Owens has stressed urgency to his team this week with district play beginning. He told them they are only guaranteed eight more games this season. The biggest challenge for the Wildcats this week has been preparing their defense for Terrell’s Wing-T offense.
KSST Radio will bring you Wildcats football from Terrell beginning tonight at 7:30 p.m. The game will also be videotaped for replay later on Channel 18 on Suddenlink Cable.
