October 14, 2019 – A 40-year-old Pickton woman was jailed Saturday for allegedly taking another woman’s Dodge Avenger without permission.
Summer Wright was accused of leaving with the car owner’s purse which she said contained her car keys, following an argument at a Commerce address. The car owner said she hadn’t seen her vehicle since Tuesday, deputies alleged in arrest reports.
Officials received information Saturday of a possible location for the Dodge Avenger. Deputies and a state trooper went to the address, where they reported finding the car.
Wright claimed she did have permission to use the vehicle, but didn’t feel comfortable returning it; she couldn’t or wouldn’t give a reason why.
Consequently, Wright was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and the vehicle was impounded. She remained in Hopkins County jail Monday, Oct. 14. Bond on the charge was set at $5,000, according to jail reports.
