A 48-year-old Sulphur Springs woman was taken into custody around lunch time Friday on a felony warrant.
Hopkins County Sheriff’s Deputy Dan Turrentine and Cpl. Todd Evans, aware of an outstanding warrant for Demetria Lashunda Rivers’ arrest, went to her Beckham Street residence at 11:45 a.m. Nov. 22. Upon locating the woman, the deputies served the warrant and took her to jail for violation of probation, which she was on for possession of less than 1 gram of a Penalty Group 1 contrlled substance in a drug-free zone, according to arrest and jail reports.
The offense, according to arrest reports, was alleged to have occurred on Nov. 11. She remained in the county jail Saturday morning on the charge, according to jail reports.
