Sulphur Springs Livestock Commission NETBIO January 2020 Sale

The rain and wet conditions didn’t keep the buyers, sellers and visitors away from the January Northeast Texas Beef Improvement Organization’s (NETBIO) pre-conditioned calf and yearling sale that was held Wednesday at the Sulphur Springs Livestock Auction.
A total of 254 seller/members consigned 5,231 head of cattle that sold during the afternoon auction. The cattle held up well despite the bad weather, according to Sulphur Springs Livestock Commission co-owner David Fowler.

More than 5,000 head of pre-conditioned cattle were sold at the Northeast Texas Beef Improvement Organization sale held at the Sulphur Springs Livestock Auction Wednesday.

Fowler noted that the market was good and that 31 buyers purchased the cattle for an average of $812.78 per head. Some of those buyers were watching on the Internet and purchased nearly 500 head.
“The NETBIO members brought some quality cattle to the sale and the buyers recognized that,” Fowler said. He added that the workers at the auction market did a great job of handling and caring for the cattle before and during the sale.
NETBIO has two more sales coming up in February and March and producers are already pre-conditioning their cattle in preparation for those sales.
The next sale will be held on February 19 at the Sulphur Springs Livestock Commission.
The weaning date for February sale cattle was Jan. 5 and the booster shot date is Jan. 20.
Following will be the March 18 sale. Cattle consigned to that sale should be weaned by Feb. 2 and the last booster shot should be administered by Feb. 17. Both sales will begin at 1 p.m.

The NETBIO Pre-Conditioned Stocker and Feeder Calf Sale gives producers a market to offer their pre-conditioned calves and yearlings in load lot quantities. It is the marketing arm for members of the organization, and eight sales are held throughout the year.
