Wildcats Baseball Team Gets Into the Win Column Splitting Two Games Thursday at Wylie East

The Wildcats Baseball Team split two games in the Wylie East Raider Classic tournament on Thursday (March 4). The Wildcats held on to defeat North Forney, 6-5 and then just came up short, 3-2 against host Wylie East.

Against the Falcons, the Wildcats scored 3 runs in the top of the third to go ahead, 5-3. North Forney scored twice in the bottom of the fourth but the Wildcats held on to take the four inning game. Hayden Hurst got the pitching win going 3 1/3 innings allowing 6 hits and 5 runs while striking out 3 and walking 6. Kaden Wallace got a save getting the last two outs giving up nothing and getting a strikeout. Ty Stroud was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s and a run scored. Wallace was 3 for 3 with 2 doubles and 2 runs scored. Matthew Singleton was 2 for 3 with a run scored. Hurst was 1 for 3 with an RBI and a double. Dawson Carpenter was 1 for 2 with 2 runs scored. Boo Wilkerson had an RBI.

Against Wylie East, the Wildcats scored twice in the bottom of the fourth inning to tie the score at 2-2. The Raiders went ahead with a run in the top of the fifth to go up 3-2. The Wildcats could not match the run in the bottom of the fifth in the five inning game. The Wildcats actually outhit the Raiders 6 to 5.

Matthew Sherman pitched well going 4 innings while giving up 3 hits and only 1 earned run while striking out 5 and walking 5. Hector Martinez took the loss going 1 inning allowing 2 hits and a 1 run with 2 strikeouts and a walk. Wallace was 1 for 3. Hurst was 1 for 2 with a run scored. Stroud was 1 for 2. Aiken Owens was 1 for 2. Blake Vice was 1 for 2 with an RBI. Griffin Crawford was 1 for 2 with an RBI.

The Wildcats season record is now 1-6. They will continue play in the tournament on Friday.
