Funeral services for Bennie Mack Bolton, age 84, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 2021, at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bradley Edge officiating. Interment will follow at South Liberty Cemetery with Heath Beggs, Chad Joiner, Everett Jennings, Colter Ragan, Blake Ragan, Tanner Ragan, and Dooley Ragan serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m., prior to service time.
Bennie (Pawpaw) went to be with the Lord on June 28, 2021, after a 10-year battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born on July 2, 1936, in McKinney, Texas, the son of K.C. and Mable (Swatsell) Bolton. He married Jean Ragan on January 5, 1983, in Sulphur Springs.
Bennie worked at Texas Instruments for 5 years and then retired from TXU mining. He then continued working a few years at Sulphur Springs ISD. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #221 for over 50 years.
He is survived by son, Marlon and Phyllis Bolton of Caddo Mills; daughter, Angie and Mike Booth of Sulphur Springs; step-sons, Truman and wife Deanne Ragan of Sulphur Springs, David Ragan of Sulphur Springs, and Lance Ragan of Kansas; grandchildren, Tiffany and Heath Beggs, Macie and Chad Joiner, Lacie and Everett Jennings, Cassy Bolton Smith; step-grandchildren, Jeramy and Hannah Booth, Tanner and Holly Ragan, Colter Ragan, Tye and Josh Boatman, Blake and Chandra Ragan of Sulphur Springs, Ryder and Rhett Ragan on Kansas, amd Dooley Ragan of Sulphur Springs; great-grandchildren, Adalyn Joiner, Braxton Jennings, Baelyn Jennings, Taytum Smith; step-great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Dylan Ragan, Brady, Fancie, and Gage Ragan, Reese, Ramsey, and Ryan Ragan, Bayler and Brett Boatman, Quinton, Kalab, and Hadley Booth; and his first wife, Leda Lanier of Sulphur Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jean Bolton; brothers, Winston Bolton, Jerry Bolton, Doyle Bolton, Marshall Bolton; sisters, Geraldine Greer, Lois Montgomery, Sue O’Neal; stepson, Harold Ragan; great-grandson, Bryson Melton; and many loving in-laws, relatives, and friends.
