Funeral service for James “Jimmy” Harris, age 73, of Shreveport, LA will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel with Rev Jimmy Gulledge, Rev. Gary Phillips, and Rev. Paul Hayes officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Forest Academy Cemetery with John Arey, Bailey Averitt, Dylan Fory, Daniel M. Harris, Garrett Fory, Emily Fory, Brian Coker and Bryleigh Fory. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Leon Crawford, Hoyt Hooper, Joe Lofland. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mr. Harris passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Carpenter House, Shreveport, LA.
Jimmy was born on July 19, 1947, in Sulphur Springs, Texas to J.C. and Mary Sue (Metcalf) Harris. He married Alice Ann Gulledge on September 16, 1966, in Sulphur Springs. Jimmy served in the US Navy, during Vietnam. Jimmy was a retired Truck Driver and of the Baptist Faith
He is survived by wife, Ann Harris of Shreveport, LA; son, Danny Harris of Gilmer, Texas; daughter, Susy Fory of Waskom, Texas; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Law; grandchildren, Dylan Fory, Garrett Fory, Emily Fory, Bryleigh Fory, Daniel Harris, Mack Pryor, Ginna McFeely and Jaxson Harris; great-grandchildren, Laine Fory, Jaxson Crowe and Blakelee Pryor; and sisters, Patty Gunn of Pickton, Texas, Ginger McCreight of Yantis, Texas, and Bett Mead of Quitman, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Darrell Harris.
