Imogene was born on June 11, 1923 in Yantis, to N.W. and Vetra (Johnson) Brown. She married Loyd Henry Jacobs on Feb 1, 1941 in Dallas, Texas. Imogene worked for Hopkins County in different capacities for 42 years. She had the distinction of being the first deputized female in Hopkins County. She received a letter of commendation from the then Governor of Texas, John Connally for this. She was on the board of the NET Council of Governments, Community Chest and numerous other service organizations for many years. She spent a life time of service to her family and her community and her church. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She was known to all simply as “Mimi”. She loved her family, friends, and community with a passion. She also loved to cook and jumped at the opportunity to cook a meal for anyone at a minute’s last notice. She never knew what a lite or small meal was. She was famous for her holiday feasts. She would start planning and cooking in September for Thanksgiving. Christmas and Easter were equally prepared for. She loved fishing, reading and playing 42. She was wonderful piano player. One of the favorite family treats was to talk her into playing the piano. When her grandson Michael Moore started his ministry, she went with him to his two small churches every Sunday and played the piano. She was 90 at the time. She had great fun in telling that she was a “circuit rider”.
