A celebration will be held Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021, for Jim McLeroy, who is retiring this month from the City of Sulphur Springs.
The long time city attorney earlier this year let city officials know his plans to retire at the end of 2021. McLeroy has been working for about 6 months with local attorney Nate Smith, who last month was was officially approved by City Council to take over the duties of city attorney starting Dec. 8, 2021.
McLeroy will remain with the City of Sulphur Springs as assistant city attorney until Dec. 31, 2021, to offer guidance to Smith and make the transition go as smooth as possible.
The come and go reception in honor of McLeroy’s tenure as city attorney and in celebration of his retirement will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 29, at The Venue, 219 Main Street. Community members are encouraged to stop by and wish McLeroy will in his retirement from the city, while enjoying refreshments provided by Haystacks.
