March 3, 2023 – A two man team was arrested at a Sulphur Springs, TX business for attempting to cash forged checks. The men entered a Gilmer street business on Thursday around 4pm. Business staff called police after the checks were presented.
When confronted inside the business by police, Kevin Lank Jones and Jason Daniel Robert Fontenot concocted a story about one of them being picked up by the other on the road. Their plan was to share the cash, if the checks were successfully cashed.
Jones, a 34 year-old Fort Worth resident who reports himself as employed as a temporary labourer was arrested and charged with Forgery of a Financial Instrument. Fontenot, a 30 year-old Fort Worth resident, who reports himself as unemployed was also charged with Forgery of a Financial Instrument. Their bond was set at $5,000 each.
The pair was arrested and transported to Hopkins County Jail without incident.
