Graveside service for Rubie Nell Newkirk, age 88 of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at 11:15 A.M. on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Restlawn Memorial Park with Pastor Gene Mattison officiating. Colton Newkirk, Mike Clem, and Jesse Parmer will be serving as pallbearers and Michael Nixon, Darrell Butler and Daniel Butler serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mrs. Newkirk passed away on April 25, 2023.
Rubie was born on January 15, 1935 in Rock Hill, Texas to William Clarence “W.C.” and Lizzie (Brummett) Henderson. She married Thurman Ray Newkirk Sr. on June 4, 1952 in Hopkins county. Rubie worked as a department manager at Howards. She was a member of the Central Baptist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Dearease Wright; son, Thurman Newkirk Jr and wife, Cindy; grandchildren, Janice Nixon and husband, Michael, Shannon Wright, Cayla Rae Newkirk, and Colton Newkirk; great grandchildren, Connor Nixon, Canyen Nixon, Lily Wright, J.J. Brandon, and Ally Brandon.
Rubie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Rae Nell Newkirk; brothers, Bill Henderson, Johnny Henderson and Doyle Henderson.
