Mary Ann Anglin

Mary Ann Anglin was born on July 7, 1938 in Sulphur Springs, TX to John Walker & Ruth Lindley. Mary Ann grew up in Sulphur Springs & graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1956. While in high school, she was in the Hi- King club, SSHS band, & SSHS Orchestra as a vocalist. She was the first one in the class of 1956 to marry immediately after graduation. Soon afterward she welcomed her first child Curt born in Santa Ana, CA. Four years later Christi was born in Arlington, TX. Mary Ann passed away at her home in Sulphur Springs in the early morning of October 10, 2023.

She learned a hard work ethic growing up at home by cooking for the family & learning to sew as her mother was a seamstress. When & after raising her children, she worked various jobs over the years culminating in Sulphur Springs at Alliance Bank & Cannon Craft.

After her second marriage in 1977 to high school friend & classmate Ben Anglin, she loved to travel especially on the back of his motorcycle all over the USA. Being a lifetime member of the Motorcycle Sport Touring Association, she formed many new lifelong friends traveling all over the country while attending various rallies & having fun. For several years, Mary Ann enjoyed all the members of the S.S. Corvette Club, & all the activities associated with it. She had several hobbies including water skiing, spending time at her place at Lake Quitman, sewing, cooking & canning, & taking good care of her husband. Driving her new tractor & cutting & raking hay for her husband was a favorite thing to do also. Church was a very important part of her life as she attended regularly & was responsible for getting the flowers for every Sunday’s services. Mary Ann was a wonderful caregiver to many especially her mother for 12 years, & Ben’s mother before she passed away. Two of her favorite people were her sister in laws. Her great love was her grandchildren & great-grandchildren.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents John Walker Lindley, Sr. & Ruth Stewart Lindley. Also her two brothers Billy Dan Lindley(Suzanne) of Sulphur Springs & John Walker Lindley, Jr.(Sandra) of Frisco. She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Ben. Four children Curt King(Kathy), Tony Anglin, Christi Attaway(Wes), & Jeannie Darlin(Benny). Grandchildren include Zane Attaway(Shelia), Zach Attaway, Emily Anglin, La Ree Thompson(Wade), Alicia Hood(Josh), Miranda Anglin, Jennifer Short, Heather Farmer(Jace), Chad Darlin(Stacey), Kim Burnett(Cole), Krystal Darlin. Rounding out the family are 24 1/2 Great Grandchildren!

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., on Friday, October 13, 2023 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Pete McNabb officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Sulphur Springs City Cemetery with Dalton Morehead, Sunny Moore, Tom Willis, Tim Gee, Tod Hughes and Chris Gibbons serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Hughes, Fred Brice, James Frank Jones, Charlie Claunch, members of the Sulphur Springs Corvette Club and the members of the Motorcycle Sport Touring Association.
