Funeral services for Mary Ruth Taylor, age 92, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sulphur Springs City Cemetery with Peter Waguespack, Paul Lane, Terry Perry, Jeremy Jenkins, Marc Mann and Lanny Holmes serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Myles Mann, Lance Taylor, Gene Anderson, and Ryan Izzo. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Mary passed away on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Christus Mother Frances Hospital. She was born on October 28, 1931 in Paris, TX to Jesse Elbert Caffee and Ollie Lorene Gregory Caffee. She married Kenneth Ray “Cotton” Taylor on March 27, 1948 in Paris, TX and he preceded her in death on January 24, 2009. Mary worked for Sulphur Springs ISD as a secretary for over 28 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Sulphur Springs. She is survived by her children, Steven Taylor and wife Carole, Jana Waguespack and husband Peter and Lisa Lane and husband Paul, grandchildren, Arlana Mann and husband Marc, Lance Taylor, Jeremy Jenkins and wife Jessica, Jala Jenkins, Amy Highfield and Ryan Izzo, great-grandchildren, Skylar Olivia Hacker, Myles Mann, Alexander Jenkins, and Emerson Izzo along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Cotton, she was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Anna Beth Ford and Sara Virginia Seiferman, and niece Deborah Anderson.
Mary was lovingly known as Garbo by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was positive she had the most perfect and beautiful family in the world, was quick witted, addicted to sweets, loved football, and kept up with all Wildcat sports. She left a hole in our hearts that can never be filled.
