Roberta (Janie Clark) Raynor passed away unexpectedly on November 12, 2023, while traveling from California to Alabama. Janie fulfilled her dream of living by the beach. She loved watching sunsets over the ocean. She was a big Raiders and Padres fan. She had a huge heart and was always willing to help others. She had been writing poetry since high school and found joy in each publication, hoping that her words would touch and inspire others. She was feisty, always laughing and full of life. Unapologetically Janie. Birdy. Greatly missed by all who loved her.
Janie is survived by her husband, Donald “Chance” Raynor, daughters, Christina, Amanda, and Jacqueline, grandchildren, Lilly, Adelay, Catalaya and James. She also leaves behind her brother, John (Katrina) Thornton, and sisters Brenda (Tracy) Clevenger, Deana (John) Foote, Teresa (Phil) Moorman, Lisa (Jay) Franklin, Marti (Johnny) Cobb, Belvia (Daniel) Holskey, as well as her Aunt Thelma Greathouse and Aunt Donna Williams, many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Raymond Clark, her mother, Maudie Ann (Williams) Thornton, her daughter, April Denise Powell, and her son, Tanner Scott Powell.
Janie was cremated in Sulphur Springs, Texas, under the care of Tapp Funeral Home. Her loving husband brought her home to her family in Alabama. A memorial service was held on November 21st at Cedar Creek Free Will Baptist Church in Hartselle, Alabama, with Pastor Cliff Tomlinson officiating.
