Elizabeth Darlene Miller

Funeral service for Elizabeth Darlene Miller, age 96, of Carrollton, TX will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Olive Branch Baptist Church at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Leon Gossett officiating. Interment will take place at Sandifer Cemetery in Como following the services. A come and go visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. at Tapp Funeral Home. Mrs. Miller passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at her home.

Elizabeth Darlene Miller

Mrs. Elizabeth Darlene Miller, best known as “Darlene” was born March 20, 1927, in Fannin County, Texas. She was the daughter of a loving mother, Ruth Harris Roberts and Aaron Roberts, Jr. In her lifetime, she chose to exemplify love, and compassion to everyone. She was known for her kindness and encouraging words to others. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and was a faithful and true servant of God.

She was a member of Olive Branch Baptist Missionary Church of Sulphur Springs and upon her move to Dallas, became a member of New Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Olive Branch that happily served in any capacity needed. She loved serving on church programs and making special treats for church functions. While at New Mt. Zion, she enjoyed being a member of the Sweetheart Sunday school class, attending church services, speaking at the Pastor’s anniversary, and being a part of the Women’s retreats.

Darlene was a graduate of Douglas High School, where she was Valedictorian of her 1944 class. In her young life, she was employed at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital, and for many years at Sellers cafeteria.

Service to others was always important to her. Darlene supported her community through her contributions to a charity organization, Captain Hope’s Kids Clothing Drive.

Darlene married Lenzy Miller, Jr and to this union two daughters were born, (Darnese and Anita of Carrollton, Texas, a grandson Joshua of Dallas, Texas. She cherished her life with her daughters and adored her grandson.

She also leaves behind a loving sister Dorothy Smith/Cecil of Kansas City, Missouri, and a niece, Venita Smith of Kansas City, Missouri. She was proceeded in death by her mother and father, two brothers, Claude, and Leon Roberts of Kansas City, Kansas. Joining in celebrating her life are a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
