Jewell Kennington, 89, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023 at her residence. She was born on December 2, 1934, in Robeline, LA., the daughter of Abram and Josephine O’Con. She married Henry Floyd Kennington, Jr. on December 18, 1976, in Shreveport, LA. Jewell enjoyed baking, playing cards, dancing, and she was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan. Most importantly she loved spending time with her family.
Jewell is survived by her son William (Willo) Kennington, wife Dusti, daughters Robin Robertson, husband Todd, and Tracy Berley, husband Mark, and one sister Billie Scarborough. Grandchildren, Jessica Berley, Katie Robertson, Caleb Robertson, Benjamin Berley, wife Sara, Kelsey Kennington, Julia Robertson, Alli Garcia, husband (Cristian), and TK Kennington. Great-grandchildren Joshua Tobey, Abril Garcia, and Aleyda Garcia, with another great-grandson due in March.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Floyd Kennington, Jr. her parents, two brothers Elmer O’Con and Norey O’Con, and one sister Cecelia Forrest. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at West Oaks Funeral Home. There will be a private family graveside service at Holly Springs Cemetery in Red River Parish, LA with Mark Berley officiating. William (Willo) Kennington, Todd Robertson, Mark Berley, Benjamin Berley, Caleb Robertson, and John Stump will be serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be TK Kennington and Joshua Tobey.
