Funeral service for James Alvin Harris, age 67 of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at 11:00A.M. on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at East Caney Baptist Church with Rev. LaVelle Hendricks officiating and Sister Cynthi Hollins providing music. Interment will follow at Easy Caney Cemetery with Yitro Israel, Adrian Harris, Johsua Harris, William Johnson, Matthew Harris, Brandon Harris and Caleb Harris serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Mr. Harris passed away on March 27, 2024 at his residence.
James was born on July 10, 1956 to AJ Harris and Luevella (Washington) Harris. He attended Saltillo Schools. He accepted Christ at an early age. James was a somewhat quiet but friendly person. He was kind and seemed to have never met a stranger. He was always willing to help anyone that he could. James was loved by many especially family. He was a carpenter by trade. He loved fishing and hunting. In high school James excelled in basketball and baseball.
He is survived by his mother, Luevella Harris, sisters Joyce Young, Houston, Nedra Whitehurst, Dallas, and Teresa Thorton, Sulphur Springs. Brothers Stanley Harris, Billy Harris, Kelvin Harris (Sharon), Dewayne Harris, Marcus Harris of Sulphur Springs, Aunt Carol Bell, Sulphur Springs; Uncles Tom F Washington Jr, Mt Pleasant, Lynn Washington, Sulphur Springs and Jimmy Washington (Mary), Garland and a host of dearly loved Nieces, Nephews. James will be deeply missed.
James was preceded in death by his father, AJ Harris.
